  • Underage patients (patients under eighteen) must have a registered caregiver applying on their behalf.

  • Patients should be ready to pay the $100 non-refundable application fee.

  • All patients must have the required documents ready during their application process.

Oklahoma Medical MJ Card Online Application

Getting certified for medical mj by a qualified Oklahoma MMJ doctor is a simple online process.

To start things off, patients should book an appointment with a registered Oklahoma medical mj doctor. With the appointment time set, the next step involves attending the online mj evaluation.

Usually, the appointment takes about 10 minutes where patients have a conversation with their doctor on why medical mj may be beneficial for their treatment.

The online mj evaluation takes place on Doxy, a secure and easy-to-use telemedicine platform we use for patient appointments.

If approved, patients should receive their complete Physician Recommendation minutes after their appointment.

Requirements & Patient Eligibility

There is no list of Oklahoma medical mj qualifying conditions like most states with legalized medical mj. Instead, it’s left to the discretion of the recommending doctor to determine whether medical mj would be beneficial to the patient’s well-being.

Nevertheless, other than the eligibility requirements mentioned earlier, patients should know what qualifies for a medical mj card in Oklahoma and which documents they should have ready.

Oklahoma Medical MJ Laws

By having an Oklahoma medical card, patients can lawfully buy and possess medical mj in the state. Still, Oklahoma mj laws outline restrictions that patients need to be aware of and follow to be law-abiding citizens:

  • Patients with a valid Oklahoma medical card can only possess a maximum of 3 ounces on their person and up to 8 ounces for at-home possession.

  • Qualified patients can grow up to six flowering plants and six seedlings on their property.

  • Oklahoma mj law doesn’t consider mj paraphernalia, for example, rolling paper, bongs, or tobacco blunts necessary for a patient’s treatment. So, there’s no reason for patients to possess or use these items to create their medication.

  • Qualified patients can only buy medical mj from state-approved dispensaries. Additionally, the Oklahoma rules for sale and distribution prohibit personal sales. So, patients SHOULDN’T engage with them in any way, shape, or form.

  • Hashish-based products or other products made from mj concentrates are regarded as Schedule I drugs under Oklahoma mj law. But, for medical patients, the legal possession of these products is capped at 1 ounce.

Patients should check out the Oklahoma medical mj laws to understand what the law tolerates and where it draws the line. Plus, the possible consequences of breaking the laws.

A Brief History of the Oklahoma Medical MJ Program

Oklahoma voters approved the Medical MJ Legislation Initiative on June 26th, 2018. As a result, Oklahoma became the 30th US state to legalize medicinal mj. Subsequently, the Oklahoma Medical MJ Authority (OMMA) was formed and charged with enforcing and regulating the newly minted medical mj program.

However, not everything has been smooth sailing for the OMMA. You can read more about its recent efforts to implement a seed-to-sale monitoring system through Metrc mj Track stalling due to legal issues here.
